The trip across Vistari territory had been earily quiet. Doc was certain that he'd triggered at least one perrimeter trap..but what its effect was he had no idea.
One thing was certain, any journey back to human territory was going to need a different route.
Doc checked his watch, over an hour late for the midnight rendezvous with Mac Har Tura...and still more than two blocks to cover.
(Anyone jump in.)

Tavis once again found he couldn't sleep, he had decided to head to the gardens again, even though there wasn't much he could do at this hour. He took a small flash light and started out, knowing full well he shouldn't be out this late on his own.
He froze upon hearing someone’s footsteps, mentally cursing himself for being so stupid. He quickly turned off his flashlight.

Doc hadn't noticed the flashlight until it suddenly vanished darkening the crossroads
With the markings of Tura clearly visible on the wrecked buildings it could only be one of the tribe that he'd been seeking.
"I come in peace Tiahaar Tura" he said loudly stepping out into the middle of the junction so that he was in plain sight.

…A human? Tavis wasn’t sure if he should show himself, he had heard of a few humans who the Tura worked with. Could he trust that this was one of them? Or perhaps it was a trap. Without moving from the darkness Tavis spoke, “Who are you and what is your business here?” He tried to make his voice as imposing as possible.

The voice was definitely harish...it had that indefinable quality to it. Judging by the quaver in the voice the boy wasn't a hardened warrior
Carefully Doc sat in a cross legged position so as no to appear threatening.
"I am Doc Houseman. I am here to negotiate aid for my patient. I was to meet Tiahaar Mac Har Tura about an hour ago two blocks north of here. I got delayed in the 'burbs"

Tavis took the risk and stepped out so the man could see him. He had been told of Doc Houseman, but had yet to meet him, “He’s most likely gone to bed by now. Mac doesn’t like to be kept waiting.” Tavis walked closer to the man, “You may stand if you wish,” Tavis told him. Although Tavis knew this man was a friend he was still a little uneasy

Doc got to his feet feeling weary, it had been a long evening.
"Are you a member of the medical caste Tiahaar? If so can you can act on Tiahaar Mac's behalf? I have a patient, a child, who can't be treated in the millitary M.A.S.H."

“How bad is it?” Tavis asked, hoping that his newfound abilities would be enough. He could heal minor injuries, and although it hadn’t been tried he was confident he could do more than that, “I will admit my skills are untried, but I am not without knowledge.”

"Its about as bad as it can get. Her names Anna Carpenter. She's six years old and diabetic. There isn't much insulin left in the city. And the way things are... " (he waved in the general direction of the barrier) "....there's no chance of getting more"
Doc sighed bitterly "The only chance she has at life is a Turan miracle cure."
"Now I've no idea whether your tribe's techniques can heal something like that..but I figure its something you yourselves might not know either. I figure its a win-win deal. Anna gets a last shot at life and you hara may find out the extent of your abilities."

Tavis chewed on his lip for a moment, he didn’t think it was something he could handle on his own. As far as he knew something like that was beyond the Tura’s current abilities.
“I…I don’t know if I could handle it, if there is time I can find someone who could.”

"Anna has enough insulin for a further ten days..assuming nobody steals it or smashes up the supply" replied Doc "I figured you guys would want to discuss it first...Tiahaar...I'm sorry I didn't catch your name?"

"Trevo...Tavis," it was strange to suddenly have to use a new name after 19 years of being called Trevor, and he still slipped up from time to time, "I will speak to Blithe on your behalf Dr. Houseman. How can we get word to you?"

"Anyone wanting me can leave a note at the corner of East Pipeline Road and East 45th Street , I check that location daily. Tiahaar Tavis..." he replied
Before he could continue a wave of dizziness came over him followed by a fit of coughing that left blood in his mouth. Was it radiation he wondered or was it the result of the Vistari perimeter trap he'd triggered?

Tavis had been keeping his distance but instinct took over as the human began to cough, “That doesn’t sound good,” Tavis said as he walked towards the doctor, he placed a hand on his shoulder, “may I help?” He asked, genuinely concerned for the man.

Doc nodded and gasped "its ...either radiation..or Vistari..had to pass... thier perim..meter."
Why's it getting darker? wondered Doc as he slid to the floor
