“Yes, I can take you that far. I know this area rather well. St. Bridget’s is easy to get to from any area of the city. Which makes sense if you think about it.” Tavis lead Sasha away from the hospital towards the inner city where the Rodrae lived, “I would suggest you go easy with Terra, he is young,” Tavis said, trying to pled the young har’s case, “I’m sure he was only trying to help.”

Lips twisting in another scowl, Sasha shook his head. “He’s stirring up trouble is what he’s doing. It’s common knowledge my blindness isn’t curable,” he explained. “Please tell me if I’m going to trip over something?” he asked, beginning to look worried as Tavis led him in silence.

“The paths are very clear in this area, but I will make sure you don’t trip. And you don’t know it isn’t curable. I’m sure with enough time and study almost anything can be cured.” Tavis’ outlook was similar to most Tura’s when it came to healing. He believed that Wraeththu could eventually learn to heal everything and anything they would encounter.

“You lot have tried already,” replied Sasha. “A lot,” he added, recalling several failed attempts to heal his eyesight just after he had been incepted. “Jish took me to see a friend of his amongst the Tura, I don’t remember who, but even he couldn’t heal it and apparently he was really, really good.”

“Hmm…It could be,” Tavis didn’t comment about one of Sasha’s friends knowing a Tura. It wasn’t common knowledge the Blithe didn’t want the Tura to interact with the Rodrae, “Move to the left,” Tavis said as he moved, “We are getting out of range of the hospital and things get rougher here.

“You don’t keep your territory spick and span?” Sasha asked, shuffling to the left as Tavis commanded. “Woulda thought you lot were a bunch of obsessive compulsives!” he laughed, leaning in closer to Tavis than was absolutely necessary.

“We try and keep the areas around the hospital clean. And we aren’t obsessive; we just care and tend to be passionate about what we do.” Tavis wasn’t overly comfortable with Sasha’s closeness, but he chalked it up to him being blind.

“Don’t want any injuries on the worksite do we?” Tavis smelled really nice, thought Sasha, breathing in the Tura’s scent with a small smile. “Did you know you smell nice?” he asked after a moment.

“No…um,” Tavis paused, taken aback by Sasha’s forwardness, “Thanks. Its lavender, I was in the garden earlier today.” Tavis said, trying to steer the conversation back to something neutral.

A garden? Oh, he wished they had a garden! Of course, considering where the Rodrae lived it was a bit difficult. One of his tribe mates had taken over a florist when they had moved into the huge shopping centre and was happily cultivating orchids and ferns, but it was hardly a garden with lavender.
“I love lavender,” he lamented.

“I’m shocked that it survived, but it did. I’m sure you can find some place that you can grow it. I’d give you some seeds if you like.” Tavis didn’t realize that this would entail meeting up with Sasha again.

“Really?” he asked, an expression of delight crossing his features. “That’d be great,” he sighed and then paused abruptly, in the middle of the pavement. “How far are we from Rodrae territory do you think?”

“Almost there, just two more blocks,” Tavis said as he steered Sasha away from a pile of rubble, “Once we are there will you be able to make it safely back? I don’t know how far away from your home you will be.”

“Yeah, I know our territory like the back of my hand,” said Sasha, nodding. “Would you let me give you some stuff before you go back to St. Bridget’s?” he asked as he let Tavis steer him about the ruins. All he could see was a blurry, muddled world that made no sense. Damn it, why did his sight have to be so fragile?

“…I suppose,” Tavis said, surprised at Sasha’s question, “Not to be ungrateful for anything, but why? I’ll I’ve done was help you home, it’s all any decent har would do.”
