Cane tapping a staccato rhythm against the pavement, Sasha muttered angrily to himself the topic of which was Terra’s desertion. Damn little brat, he thought, thumping the ball at the end of his cane hard against the cracking concrete. He’d just run off after saying that he was wanted back at camp, leaving Sasha alone in unknown territory.
On the whole, it would not have mattered so much if Terra had scampered off in Rodrae territory which Sasha knew like the back of his hand but they had been taking a wander into Tura territory and without the other har at his side Sasha soon became thoroughly lost.
Sasha is blind, you see, and while this did not, in general, bother him – for he had a uniquely mutated second sight – the unfamiliar terrain, coupled with his second sight’s abrupt failure soon after Terra had abandoned him, had Sasha wandering deeper and deeper into Tura territory.
“GOD DAMN IT, TERRA!” he shrieked after almost half an hour. “You’re not going to be able to sit down for a week when I get my hands on you!” And to prove his point in the eerie silence of the devastated city, Sasha waved his white cane about in a distinctly threatening manner.

Tavis had been watching the two Rodrae for quite sometime, pondering whether or not he should go for the guards. They seemed harmless enough, but the Rodrae were often deceiving. Although the smaller one looked to be no older than 14, Tavis snarled in disgust. The Rodrae would incept any pretty thing that wandered into their clutches. He pitied the child. Although the older har interested him as well, as he appeared to be blind, he wondered if the little one was trying to trick the older har into being healed. He bit back a laugh as the little one suddenly ran off.
Tavis pulled his dreadlocks back into a thick tail and stepped out of the shadows, “Very scary,” he said, his voice wary, had this been a physically fit Rodrae he would never had dared approach, “I’m sure young Terra is cowering in fear.”

He jumped, he had not been expecting some har to suddenly start speaking! Swinging around to face the direction of the voice, Sasha frowned. “Yeah, well, he better be,” he said and then, raising his voice, shouted, “HEAR THAT TERRA?! YOU BETTER BE COWERING IN FEAR WHEN I FIND YOU!”
He was absolutely ropeable, the very least Terra could have done was to take him back to the edge of Rodrae territory. He’d have been able to find his way back then. His lips twisted in a nasty looking scowl and he made it his mission to make sure Terra’s arse was black and blue for at least a week.

“I take it you have no clue where your young friend left you?” Tavis asked as he walked closer to the har, he was really a very striking creature, “I imagine you would be even more ready to beat the poor child if you knew.” Tavis wondered if he should offer to help this har back to his own territory. It may have not been the smartest idea, but he couldn’t very well leave him here. Maybe he should get the guard to take him back.

“I know I’m on Tura ground,” said Sasha, beginning to grow wary. He’d heard the Tura didn’t particularly like the Rodrae and for that he blamed Jish. He blamed pretty much everything on Jish but his friend took it all with long suffering good humour.
“Not sure how far into Tura territory though,” he added, almost as an after thought.

Tavis laughed, “You are three blocks away from Saint Bridget’s. I believe your young friend was bringing you to heal your eyes,” Tavis walked closer to the strange har, mindful of the cane, he had no desire to be hit with it, “I am Tavis har Tura,” he told him.

“Yeah? Well I’m Sasha har Rodrae,” said Sasha, wondering where this ‘Tavis’ har was. Damned second sight, it was suppose to work, not go on the fritz like this! It left him feeling horribly exposed and, worse than that, helpless.
“St. Bridget’s?!” he spluttered after a moment as the name sunk in. “Only three blocks? Oh, that little shit! I don’t need a healer! I am perfectly fine on my bloody own!”

“Well then I shall leave you to get home then Sasha har Rodrae,” Tavis was standing a few feet away from Sasha now, “As you are perfectly find on your own.” Tavis wasn’t inclined to be cruel, but he really wasn’t sure about getting involved with a Rodrae on any level other than healing one.

“What?!” squawked Sasha, whose pride so overpowering that he would not ask for help. “Don’t you DARE!” he spat, thumping his cane hard against the pavement. “You have to help me get back to the border!” he demanded, punctuating this with an energetic shake of his cane.
“I don’t even know where I am. Hell, I don’t even know where St. Bridget’s is! You can’t leave me here, I’m a CRIPPLE!”

Tavis ducked out of the way of the cane, “Watch it with that damn cane!” He yelped, “Or I won’t help you back.” Tavis hadn’t didn’t know when he decided to help Sasha back, but apparently he had, “I wouldn’t leave you to fend for yourself,” Tavis reached out and lightly touched Sasha’s shoulder, “Come on, I’ll help you back.”

He jumped again and spun around to face Tavis. After a moment of staring with wide, unfocused eyes, Sasha began to squint at the har in front of him. All he could make out was an indistinct blur of brown and tan. “Don’t DO that,” he snapped, breathing hard. “I’m BLIND, remember?”

“Oh, excuse me, I’m sure. Now do you want me to help you get back home or not. I’ll have to touch you. Unless you want me to tie a rope around your waist and lead you back like a horse?” Tavis wasn’t particularly sure why he was being so snarky to this random Rodrae har, it would surely get him into trouble.

“Yes, but you need to TELL me when you’re going to do that,” said Sasha, tone distinctly sulky. “You don’t know what it’s like to be touched when you’re not expecting it.” And while most people thought they did, they didn’t – not really. The only time they could even begin to comprehend was when they were woken up by someone they had not expected.
Finally, and after much internal agonising, the Rodrae folded up his cane and placed it in a pocket. “Alright,” he said reluctantly. “Do you know how to lead a blind har?”

“I was going to take your arm and lead you, I assume that is acceptable?” Tavis asked, he stood patiently by Sasha’s side, “Much as you would do if you were leading a blind human.” Tavis ignored Sasha’s sulking, he was never much to tolerate such things.

“Yes,” said Sash and he held out the crook of his arm for Tavis to take. “Do you know how to get back to the border?” he asked after a moment.
